ABOUT LE COMMANDANT CHARCOT

LE COMMANDANT CHARCOT, named after an iconic participant in the first French polar expedition – Jean-Baptiste Charcot – has been designed to share the thrill of discovering the Arctic and Antarctic’s outer limits, reaching sites such as the geographic North Pole and northeast Greenland that have rarely been explored up to now.

Inside, there are a total of 123 spacious suites and staterooms boasting private balconies or terraces where guests can admire the landscape in comfort. The interior design has been carefully considered to showcase the outside and direct the gaze to the outdoors, while calming colours and materials, such as shades of light grey and sand, have been used to create areas for contemplation.

Communal areas include a main lounge with a tea corner, a cigar lounge and a bar where you can enjoy live music. Elsewhere onboard, there is a wellness area designed to bring people into harmony with the elements (think snowroom, sauna, indoor and outdoor pools as well as multiple treatment rooms). After a day of adventure, relax in the balmy waters of the Blue Lagoon, heated to between 27°C and 37°C by the ship’s energy recuperation system.

There are two restaurants, with the main dining room Nuna showcasing a selection of iconic dishes from Alain Ducasse restaurants around the world and contemporary French cuisine. For a more relaxed atmosphere, visit Sila to enjoy themed dinners.

Built to combine tourism and exploration with science, LE COMMANDANT CHARCOT has state-of-the-art research facilities onboard, including wet and dry labs, sonars, beacon buoys, a salinometer, a corer, and a drone that all aid in research and analysis studying water, air, ice and biodiversity in extreme polar regions. For the guests, the panoramic windows throughout the restaurants and lounges as well as the promenade deck and lofty observation areas take passengers to the heart of the spectacular natural environments.
