HOT AIR BALLOON & SIGIRIYA ROCK

Commence your incredible Sri Lankan adventure in the country’s Cultural Triangle. You’ll have a swift immersion into this island nation’s ancient history nestled amid its stunning landscape.

Fly in a hot air balloon for a journey above the coconut groves and rice paddies as the sun rises above the mountains. You’ll land to a warm welcome from friendly locals.

On to one of Sri Lanka’s most staggering sights: Sigiriya Rock. With an expert Pelorus guide, explore this former royal palace and its ancient history before drinking in the remarkable views above the surrounding jungle.

On a catamaran, you’ll journey along the Kandalama River for a thrilling wildlife experience involving elephants. Meet the domesticated animals before helping the mahouts wash the elephants’ grey hides with coconut husks. You’ll come to understand this intimate relationship between mahout and elephant while becoming attuned to the spoken and unspoken language between them.

KANDY & ADAM’S PEAK

On to the historic city of Kandy where you’ll explore the important Buddhist site, The Temple of the Sacred Tooth. After a stroll around the city’s elegant lake, a train will take you from Kandy’s handsome architecture and on past emerald-green tea plantations, rugged highlands, and misted waterfalls to the back country town of Ella.

Explore the conservation area of the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary, alive with engaging species and one of the country’s renowned areas of natural beauty. You’ll take a helicopter up to Adam’s Peak for incredible views across the island.

After seeing Aberdeen Falls, embark on a canyoning adventure in the jungle. Before dawn, ascend the mountain alongside a knowledgeable guide who will unfold the religious significance of this peak before the sunrise delivers the astonishing ‘shadow of the peak’ phenomenon.

UDAWALAWE & WHALE SPOTTING

You’ll journey to Udawalawe National Park by helicopter, enjoying a wonderfully scenic flight along the way. Switching to a 4WD vehicle with private guides, you’ll go in search of the huge herds of elephants that can be found here.

Learn about the local environment and its wildlife, before a gourmet picnic inspired by the landscape. To round off your pachyderm adventure, attend feeding and bathing time for the elephant calves at Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage.

To the stunning south coast, where Sri Lanka’s name as ‘the Pearl of the Indian Ocean’ comes into sharp focus with its gorgeous coastline and historic port town of Galle. The oceans are described as one of the best places to see whales and dolphins, so set off in a tender with a marine biologist and follow foraging pods. If your guide agrees, it’ll be possible to dive in and swim among these friendly mammals.

SURF LESSON & GALLE

Relax on the coast, surf the glassy waves, swim in the opal blue shallows, or just soak up the abundant sun. If you feel like taking your surfing up a notch, our expert surf partners will tailor a program of coaching to your needs and transport you to superb, lesser-known breaks to improve in blissfully uncrowded conditions.

Explore atmospheric Galle, once a major trading port where Dutch and English influences abound. You’ll walk the atmospheric streets, see the children’s cricket games and kite-flying along the seafront, and dip into boutique shops and colonial buildings.

With a private archaeologist guide, explore Galle Fort on an exclusive special access visit. For dinner, dine on the grand fort’s walls with majestic sunset views and fabulous cuisine.

Round off your journey with an exclusive wildlife experience at the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery. Learn about the conservation programs in place here, enjoy sundowners on the beach, and assist in returning turtle hatchlings to the turquoise sea.
