HELI-BIKING THE HIMALAYAS

High in the eastern Himalayas, Bhutan is a country and kingdom with a traditional way of life. For all of that, modernity has a foothold in the Land of the Thunder Dragon and, beyond catching devout monks checking their smartphones, you can also now go heli-biking here.

Combining a helicopter adventure with off-road biking, these exhilarating experiences are infinitely flexible. Tailor the trip to exactly your level and time constraints, from exploring quiet country lanes to challenging single-track escapades.

Be the first to carve a trail through Bhutan’s grassy hills and colorful rhododendron forest. With the helicopter, you’re able to access parts of the countryside otherwise unattainable. And at the end of a deeply satisfying day, you’re transported swiftly back to your sumptuous stay and its serene spa.

ARCHERY & ZURIG DZONG

Rise as dawn warms the sky and make a pilgrimage to Gangtey Monastery for morning prayers.

Under the tutelage of an ex-Olympian, you’ll learn the kingdom’s national sport of archery. After innumerable bulls-eyes, embark on a white-water rafting adventure along the Punak river passing through a lush, untouched valley before arriving at the 17th-century Wandue Phodrang Dzong fortress.

Fly up over the Dochu la Pass, taking in the stunning mountain scenery, before landing in the highlands to meet the Gasa. During this cultural immersion with these semi-nomadic yak herders, you’ll sit down with them and taste some of their local cuisine. Afterward, trek through the valley and stop at Zurig Dzong for the incredible view taking in the palace, the valley, and the looming mountains in the distance.

* Prices depend on level of experiences and accommodation. This is based on 2 adults traveling for 7 nights excluding international flights.
