HERO Jordan Wadi Rum Tents

Set beneath the soaring sandstone cliffs of Wadi Rum, this solar-powered, permanent camp offers a taste of true Bedouin style. Within the tents—whether goat-hair Bedouin or the more modern pod-style—you’ll find an Arabian Nights-style interior with dark wood Bedouin furniture, richly colored textiles, and a choice of up to three beds in a single tent.

The more modern pods have en-suite bathrooms and a transparent bedroom ceiling for star-gazing while sprawled on your king-sized mattress.

An outside deck is attached to each tent for a comfortable spot from which to contemplate the exact shade, somewhere between mauve and rose, of the Wadi Rum Mountains at sunset. At night, the encampment is romantically lit by oil lanterns, flaming torches, and candles.

The camp’s sense of authenticity is impressive, and it extends into the superb Jordanian cuisine served on the carpet of the communal Bedouin tent (it is possible to eat al fresco if desired).

Let the camp arrange a cultural immersion with authentic nomadic tribespeople, or explore the stunning and harsh landscape that they’ve made their home.

Sashay on a camel or speed along in a jeep while exploring the desert, before sandboarding down huge dunes as the sunset paints the sculpted sandstone gorges of Wadi Rum.
