Design

The Motse is where it all started. Thatched rooves and desert rock form a secluded ‘village’ of nine luxurious legae (the Setswana word for ‘home’). Perfectly reflecting the landscape’s natural beauty, these tranquil retreats offer elegant simplicity partnered with uncompromised comfort. Pale sandstone and exposed wooden beams create a cool and calming environment in which to relax after a long day of adventure. Curl up by the crackling log fire and reflect on the events of the day, or head to the expansive outdoor decking and feast on a meal under the stars.

For larger groups or families, Tarkuni is a thatched homestead that offers the ultimate retreat for both entertaining and unwinding. The vast, open plan living room leads onto five deluxe suites, as well as a cosy library and games room. Your own private chef and outdoor swimming pool offer even greater seclusion on your exclusive African adventure. Their newest addition, Loapi, is a luxury tented camp with six, individual, tented safari homes for the ultimate private wilderness experience.

Tswalu Kalahari is driven by a strong conservation and community ethic, with the underpinning ethos of the reserve ‘To leave our world better than how we found it’. To this end, the have a world-class conservation strategy to undo years of damage from farming and to reintroduce native species.

The Tswalu Foundation funds a local school and healthcare centre, providing vital medical services and education to the community while fresh produce is grown on-premises, with water-saving irrigation techniques and sustainable approaches to horticulture.
