Spectacularly situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, Tongabezi Lodge is a peaceful clutch of cottages and houses with incredible views over the landscape. Its waterside location ensures a haze of tranquil romance—easily dispelled for those who choose to travel the short distance to Victoria Falls only a short distance downstream.
Its Tangala House takes the luxury up several notches—a stunning private villa with its own boat, vehicle, pool, gym, and over 800ft of private river frontage. It’s close enough to the resort that you don’t feel separate, but far enough away to guarantee seclusion.
LOCATION
Just over nine miles upstream of thundering Victoria Falls, Tongabezi Lodge sits in a towering grove of ebonies looking out over the broad Zambezi River.
This tranquil eco-lodge is all about discovering the gorgeous wilderness that surrounds it—most simply done by cruising down the river—as well as the headliner falls just a short journey downstream.
The restaurant serves up delicious seasonal Zambian cuisine, which it’s possible to enjoy in the comfort of your own spacious private deck area (although, in this prime spot, it’s fair to say there’s no dud table).

The lodge’s variety of accommodations is impressive. Its five River Cottages and seven houses are each idiosyncratic and stylishly presented with an ‘African fusion’ aesthetic.

For a greater sense of exclusivity, it’s possible to set up residence in the heart of the Sindabezi River. You’ll share this serene islet with four other houses, enjoying an astonishing level of tranquillity (although still benefitting from the services of the dedicated valet for each residence).
