LOCATION

Situated in the historical, scenic heart of downtown Reykjavik, this harbor-side hotel is in a brilliant location for exploring the region. There’s Laugavegur Street, the city’s buzzing shopping district, close by as well as the famous Blue Lagoon and the Northern Lights visible in the city during the winter solstice. With cityscapes, waterfront vistas as well as views of Mount Esja and the Snæfellsjökull glacier, The Edition has the best of Iceland on its doorstep.

Unfolding over the floors, the 253 guest rooms and suites are sumptuous retreats and each bed has been positioned to face the floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the breathtaking views. While the outside of the building is harsh and black, inside you can expect a muted palette of ash wood and pale grey oak which is warm and inviting and is paired with faux fur rugs and furnishings from native craftsmen.

WHAT MAKES THIS HOTEL UNIQUE?

This incredible location is made the most of thanks to copious large windows and a rooftop with panoramic views of the ocean, city and mountains. A first-of-its-kind, the hotel’s spa operates under a “social spa” concept. By day, this is a sanctuary to recharge, rebalance and revitalize. But by night, it transforms into the ultimate social pamper spot where the communal hammam and spa lounge will have you enjoying this social concept as you enjoy food and drink service between steams and soaks.

On the ground floor, the hotel’s signature restaurant Tide offers a seafood-focused menu showcasing modern Icelandic cuisine using local and seasonal ingredients. Expect dishes such as whole Arctic char stuffed with lemon, dill and garlic button and braised lamb shoulder with pickled onions, mint and apples.
