LOCATION

Located on a quiet bend of the Zambezi River, Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma is just a short drive from Victoria Falls. Built into a canopy of ebony trees, the 12 tree houses are connected by wooden walkways and blend seamlessly into the natural environment. With ensuites, air conditioning, a personal bar and a private viewing deck overlooking the Zambezi River, you’ll have everything you need up here in the trees.

For those traveling as a family, the two Chuma Houses offer more space and sit on the riverbank and come complete with two ensuite bedrooms, a private lounge and dining area as well as a plunge pool, private chef and house staff.

The main lodge is split over two levels, with inside/outside living naturally a theme here: enjoy cocktails in the open-sided bar as the sun sets, or spend a lazy afternoon beside the river-fronted swimming pool.

WHAT MAKES THIS HOTEL UNIQUE?

Looking for some ‘R & R’? Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma has a range of spa treatments – from massages and facials to manicures – for guests to enjoy from their highly skilled Africology therapists. Using some of South Africa’s indigenous plants in their treatments (think Rooibos, Aloe Ferox, marula and African Potato), unwind while enjoying spectacular views over the Zambezi River.

But as fantastic as the spa is, it’s not why guests come to the lodge. The Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park may be one of Zambia’s smallest, but the game viewing is incredible (look out for Zambia’s only white rhino). There aren’t many predators here so the wildlife are more relaxed, and the ‘locals’ (read: hippopotamus and elephant) are likely to wander through the property’s grounds at any time.
