pamushana lodge swimming pool zimbabwe

Set in the 130,000-acre Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve in southeastern Zimbabwe, Pamushana Lodge is a stunning safari destination.

The resort itself blends the local architecture and tribal heritage with muted contemporary tones. Within the stone walls and high thatched roofs of the spacious suites, you’ll find geometric patterns on the walls, dazzlingly intricate textiles, and exposed wood accents. Floor-to-ceiling windows make the most of the views, as do the freestanding tubs (placed beside windows) and the private infinity pool for every villa. There’s also an outdoor shower on the deck.

The resort’s excellence doesn’t stop at the bricks and mortar. Its safari offerings are superb—with guides to match—and you can journey out on twice-daily drives to see the astonishing wildlife. There’s also nearby rock art to see, walks among the baobab trees, and you can take a fishing rod to the dam to hook tiger fish, bass, catfish, and more.

As the day comes to a close, sundowner in hand, watch from the deck as the wildlife gathers at the dam to join you in an evening drink. Move to the cliff-top firepit as it gets colder, swapping stories or just gazing up at the star-blanketed night.
