On the sandy banks of the Ntiakatek River, in the northern expanse of the great plains of the Maasai Mara, the Mara Expedition Camp is a slice of deluxe safari in classic style.
The capacious white canvas tents are like something out of a storybook: antique wooden trunks sit at the foot of king-sized beds, lanterns and brass chandeliers supply soft lighting, and ornate Persian rugs cover the floor.
Cleanse the dust of the safari from your skin in the enormous brass safari shower located in your sizeable en suite bathroom with double vanities. Keep an eye out for the Big Five while relaxing on your private veranda with its view of the river.
Communal dining takes place in a grove of African ebony trees which, at night, is romantically lit with candles and lanterns. The elegantly laid, three-course dinner, accompanied by the camp’s attentive and friendly hosts, features organically grown, local produce. Breakfast and lunch can either be eaten in or taken out on a morning safari and served elegantly on a Maasai blanket tablecloth. Expect hot tea and coffee and freshly baked bread, fruits, cereals, meats and salads, while surrounded by the scenic landscape and native wildlife.
