LOCATION

Situated on a 30-acre working farm estate, La Residence presides over Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz vineyards, olive groves and plum orchards. Around the grounds you can find native wildlife roaming the property such as peacocks, springbok, guinea fowl and a regal black swan.

Outside, the exterior is contemporary which contrasts with the romantic colonial interior where there are eclectic furnishings at every turn (think Persian rugs, exotic antiques and fine art). And from every room, enjoy views of the spectacular mountain backdrop and undulating countryside.

For those who want to venture beyond the walls of La Residence, spend an afternoon meandering through the grounds and the charming Dutch cottages peppered throughout (the village is the only one of the Winelands to have retained its picturesque architectural lineage). And the locale is also ideal for those who’d like to explore further, with Cape Town conveniently located just under an hour’s drive.

WHAT MAKES THIS HOTEL UNIQUE?

Discover your own fairy-tale romance with the rugged mountains and sweeping valleys of the untouched Franschhoek countryside. Feel a regal wave wash over you as you’re greeted with plush scarlet furniture and marble chequered flooring in the grand Welcome Hall. La Residence is all about the finer details, from the bouquet of flowers given on arrival and the ribbon-wrapped laundry, to dinner served on one-of-a-kind china plates from a local town. It all adds to the rustic charm of this South African farmstead.

Individually styled by Liz Biden, each room radiates romance and charm. Richly textured plush furnishing paired with exquisite antique collections, every room is adorned with traditional paintings and ornate ceramics, chandeliers offer added glamour. Expect elegant four-poster beds and 18th-century French dressers, complete with a chaise-longue and roll-top baths. Delightfully decadent, every nook and cranny is a new facet of luxury to explore.
