HERO Spain La Nava Swimming Pool

With a history as a former hunting lodge, Nava del Barranco was originally conceived as an outpost of comfort and relaxation. Its private stables and various other toys are the legacy of that origin, available on forays today to spot the rare and protected wildlife roaming the thousand verdant acres within which the property sits.

You’ll find plenty of room in this sprawling villa (as well as a hint of the regal). Fourteen double rooms with en-suites (and the capacity for an extra four rooms if required) ensure that you can go as large, or as intimate, as you require with your group size.

Natural light floods the interior spaces and brings out the warm hues of traditional dark wood furniture and gorgeous tiled floors. Outside, on the wraparound terrace, is a large infinity pool with near-infinite views.

The property blends all the best elements of a private residence and a boutique hotel. The staff is on hand to cater to your every need, tailoring menus in advance to be sure that you arrive to something delicious and ideally suited to you. Every meal feels like an event with Andalusian dishes and seasonal delicacies drawn from the surrounding acres: think asparagus with lamb chops sourced from that herd on the horizon. It’s also possible to arrange wine tastings and cheese tastings, as well as meals set in the countryside.

It’s also one of the best spots in the country to see rare creatures such as the Iberian Lynx or the Imperial Eagle. This is due to the property’s careful tending of the countryside, and its thriving wildlife subsequently drawing in these elusive predators.
