SUJAN Jawai India

LOCATION

Pitched in the wild oat grass of the Aravalli Hills, the Jawai Camp is a conservation-linked resort with a collection of ten sumptuous tents.

The spacious interiors of the tents are airy with splashes of crimson among the throws, ornate pillows, and roomy double beds. Modern touches are introduced through the stainless-steel furnishings. Each tent also comes with an ensuite bathroom and private verandas ideal for sipping glasses of rose lemonade as you scout the Indian spurge trees for large speckled cats.

There is a large family suite with two double bedrooms and a private dining area for those wanting more privacy and space or, for something truly special, opt for the Royal Panthera Suite where you can enjoy a private butler catering for your every need, a jeep to adventure off into the wilderness, a private heated swimming pool to cool off in and the most spectacular views of the surrounding scenery. Or, stay in Jawai’s latest private encampment – Eden at Jawai – which boasts two double bed suites with a private entrance and offers mesmerising views of Jawai’s highest peaks and dramatic wilderness.

WHAT MAKES THIS HOTEL UNIQUE?

Its conservation ethos is superb. One example of this is that the camp is rebuilt seasonally and on shipping containers, to help minimize its environmental footprint.

The service and its flexibility also mark the camp apart. Your meals—and where you eat them—are entirely at your discretion, although the main dining tent is extremely well oriented for views of the mountains. The changing menus are a seasonal compilation of Indian and Western cuisines—cooked fresh in front of you—while freshly made snacks with coffee and tea are available at any time on request (the paneer kati rolls are especially delicious).

There’s a lakeside spa for when you want to dial down your adrenaline after a pulse-racing leopard sighting. Yoga and meditation sessions are also available, although it might be hard to concentrate as you’ll be itching for your next sunrise game drive.
