Greenland Llimanaq Lodge Huts Hero

LOCATION

Situated on the Ilimanaq cliffs with views over Disko Bay, Ilimanaq Lodge has ensured that its cottages are optimally oriented towards the offshore Arctic drama. The entire side of the cottages that face the sea is glass ensuring that you won’t miss a single whale fluke or a particularly sculptural iceberg while in residence.

The two-story cottages have a Scandinavian cabin feel and are equipped with solar panels (making hay with the midnight sun), balconies, and private bathrooms. The Mediterranean-accented cuisine is served in equally comfortable and peaceful historic buildings restored by the lodge.

WHAT MAKES THIS HOTEL UNIQUE?

The hotel is really well placed, not only to visit the Ilulissat Ice Fjord but also to explore Greenland’s wilderness and culture. See musk oxen, snow rabbits, and caribou on hikes across the Arctic landscape. Or journey by ATVs and speed boats (dog sleds in the winter) to the fringes of the vast ice sheet.

Absorb the fascinating Greenlandic culture on a visit to Qajaa—a former settlement that’s (literally) frozen in time. And meet a local family for coffee and sit down at a lively Kaffemik social gathering.
