Dunkeld Pool and Lake Ceylon Tea Trails

This quintet of 19th-century bungalows is found at over 4000ft in the verdant heights of Sri Lanka’s Ceylon tea region.

With their hilltop positioning, the panoramas are astonishing. The bungalows offer a predominanty heritage vibe: four-poster beds, open fireplaces, dark wood antique side tables. Your french doors open up onto verandas and emerald green gardens, and all bungalows enjoy butler service and private pools with views fit for Earl Grey.

There’s nowhere else in Sri Lanka with this mix of heritage and outright luxury. Tea, of course, features heavily, whether being poured and served by your butler during breakfast in bed; at afternoon tea in the birdsong-adorned gardens; or during dinner with a tea pairing to go with your exquisite local cuisine.

Many of the resort’s experiences steep you in the local heritage. Freewheel on your bicycle past tea pickers in the fields, take a private tour of the historic Dunkeld Tea Factory, or, for a tea break, have a massage in your room before sipping a tea-free cocktail by the pool.
