Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia
Embedded in the jungled heights of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta range, this sumptuous villa has astonishing views over the landscape stretching to the Caribbean. From your luxury roost, set out to explore the gorgeous biodiversity on spectacular walks through the surrounding cloud forest.
Why We Love It
The sunset here is peerless. Watch as the clouds haloing the peaks slowly disperse to expose a light-filled landscape below. And it’s there for you every evening and for no one else.
There’s an excellent program of activities here to divide up your time staring at the incredible view, with cultural immersions with local tribes, visits to a nearby coffee plantation, and helicopter safaris on offer.
Located in Colombia’s Sierra Nevada da Santa Maria mountains, this spacious, rustic-chic villa offers a trio of bedrooms with en-suites and a choice of king or queen-sized beds. The living areas follow suit, with plenty of space in which to relax and try to finish your novel before giving up and just staring at the views some more.
Of course, the views are maximized from the roomy wraparound terrace where you’ll probably spend as much of your time as possible. Dinner can also be served here, with its superb Colombian and international menu drawing on the flavors of the surrounding landscape and enhanced by local organic honey, coffee, and cacao.
If you need more space, there are single beds, sofas, and a bathroom in the studio, also found within the timber-framed villa.
WHAT MAKES THIS HOTEL UNIQUE?
This is arguably the balcony with the finest views in South America. The villa is lodged high in the world’s tallest coastal mountain range. Sitting down on its wraparound terrace you’ll have a perspective that, with the world seeming so small below, inspires something close to a sense of omniscience.
