Borgo Santadrea

Amalfi, Italy

Overview

With an enviable cliffside location, a private beach for the exclusive use of hotel guests, delightfully modern interiors and exemplary cuisine on offer – Borgo Santandrea is an alluring Amalfi property that ticks all the right boxes.

Key Features

  • 29 rooms and 16 suites, all with sea views
  • A peaceful hotel on the cliffside, close to Amalfi, with breathtaking views
  • Pool and private beach, as well as a spa
  • Three restaurants offering variations on classical Italian food, from more informal lunches at the Beach Club to elaborate dishes in La Libraria

Perched high in the cliffs, built into the rock face overlooking the sea and the centuries-old fishing village of Conca dei Marini, Borgo Santandrea is the epitome of la dolce vita. There is a sense of relaxed seclusion, removed from the throngs of tourists further along the coast, although you can be in the heart of Amalfi in less than 15 minutes.

Here, the local charm of Mediterranean style meets mid-century design, with modern touches reflecting the hotel’s position as the newest addition to the area, opening their doors in 2022. Letting the views do the talking, inside you can expect a pared-back version of the traditional Amalfi Coast aesthetic (think whitewashed rooms with wide arches) married with a blue and white colour palette that echoes the sea.

There are a total of 29 rooms and 16 suites, boasting beautiful uninterrupted sea views and decorated with local handmade tiles and bespoke furniture. These are surrounded by an intricately designed network of flourishing gardens and manicured terraces, creating a winding pathway that links the hotel’s facilities to the beach below. Here, you will find a private beach club and jetty, allowing access by boat, making your arrival to this spectacular property all the more enchanting.

Borgo Santandrea’s three restaurants are overseen by Michelin-starred chef Crescenzo Scotti. There’s Alici, an informal eatery with an open kitchen and shady terrace overlooking the sea. La Libreria doubles up as a library by day and by night, during service, a bookcase slides back to reveal the kitchen. Expect elaborate dishes rooted in the local cuisine. Down at the Beach Club, the relaxed atmosphere is paired with delicious fresh produce and vibrant Mediterranean flavours such as fritto misto and spaghetti alle vongole.

The spa is the ultimate peaceful retreat overlooking the coast. Here, the team of highly qualified therapists offer rituals, body treatments, massages, and beauty therapists. Inside, there’s a sauna, treatment rooms, outdoor massage terrace, and a fully equipped gym.

Sustainability

During the restoration, they installed some of the finest energy-saving technologies, adopted state-of-the-art waste management systems, invested in electric vehicles and implemented many plastic reduction initiatives. The restaurants predominantly use produce from local growers and food providers.

Why we love it

Not just content with a prime seaside setting, Borgo Santandrea also boasts a private beach (unheard of in this area). Oozing restrained glamour, the interiors are sophisticated, channelling the sea and sky with pops of white and blue alongside marble and unique tiles. With floor-to-ceiling windows aplenty, the sparkling Amalfi Coast is always in sight.
