Apoka Safari Exterior with Zebras in Uganda

Based in the southwest of the Kidepo Valley National Park, Apoka Safari Lodge sits on a rise overlooking the Narus Valley.

The rooms at Apoka, created by talented local artisans, reflect the authentic local style: canvas walls contain dark wood furnishing and capacious beds dressed with curtains. The duvets are soft, the towels thick, and the bathrobes large—you’re in the middle of gorgeous nowhere, but luxury is everywhere.

The resort has a stunning pool carved out of rock and blending beautifully into the terrain. Dive in or just sit with the breeze trembling the water while you sip and drink and browse the plains. Its stone patio is where relaxed breakfasts of vibrant fresh fruit take place, as well as dinner by candlelight beneath the star-washed night sky.

This is arguably Uganda’s most remote lodge in its most off-the-beaten-path national park. Apoka offers a chance to visit the wealth of biodiversity offered by this extraordinary country but without the crowds.

You’ll head out with experienced guides into the prairie’s heart, learning about this wilderness while tracking elephants along ancestral paths through the savannah, and passing lazing lions half watchful in the afternoon heat.
